Northeast Newcomer Services provides:
At our office you have access to a computer with internet connection, a fax & copy machine, and a telephone free of charge. International calls are unavailable unless you bring your own calling card.
Language Assessment & Referral to English Language Classes
Are you interested in taking an English class? Our staff can help determine if you are eligible for government funded English classes. We would then make an appointment with a language assessor who will determine your level of English and refer you to the appropriate English class in your community.
Workshops & Presentations
We regularly offer workshops and presentations on a number of topics. Past workshops and presentations have addressed topics such as filing income tax, labour standards, financial planning, legal matters as well as leisure and recreation. Upcoming workshops and presentations are listed in our events calendar and on our home page.
Community Events
At Northeast Newcomer Services we know how crucial community involvement is in the settlement process. We therefore offer programs that get newcomers involved with their new communities. Our last initiative "Bowling Across Borders" received a great response. The weekly bowling event attracted many new and long-standing residents fostering many new friendships.
